Since BP’s Deep Water Horizon oil rig exploded on April 21, 2010, massive amounts of oil have been gushing into the Gulf of Mexico waters every day. And to date, oil continues to relentlessly flow. It is now entering into our marshlands.

This out of control oil spill is devastating the Gulf of Mexico and Louisiana’s coast and marshes. With each and every day that passes, our circumstances grow worse and the situation grimmer.

Louisiana’s fisheries, both offshore and in our marshlands are definitely worth saving! Not only are they the habitat for our world-class trophy game fish, but it is also home to our sea turtles, pelicans, sea gulls, migratory birds, shrimp, oysters and bait fish among others.

Captain Troy went on an overnight charter recently. About 6:30 p.m that evening, a bird swam around the boat several times, checking it out. The bird swam to the back of the boat and jumped up onto the dive platform. The bird seemed distressed, so Captain Troy offered it a few baitfish. The bird ate them happily. He also provided it with fresh water, which it drank up immediately. As the evening turned into night, the bird became more comfortable with its surrounding. It walked freely around the Kingfish II and paid no attention to the anglers that were aboard. The bird decided this was a safe place, and the vessel became home.  The next day, when Captain Troy returned to the Marina, the bird was still a passenger. After the boat was cleaned and the anglers had left, he brought the bird to Fort Jackson in Plaquemines Parish to the animal rescue center. Captain Troy rescued the first bird, and it was saved.

Soon after this, we decided that we needed to do something. So Captain Troy and I designed two t-shirts to raise awareness of the severity of our situation, and to let people know “save our gulf”. It is definitely worth saving! For each t-shirt we sell, we are donating a portion of the proceeds to save the wildlife that is recovered from the oil.

Many people have asked us how they can help make a difference. Buy our t-shirts! Get the word out!

We look forward to receiving your t-shirt orders, and thanks for your support!
